Mall Networks Wins WebAward for Excellence in Non-Profit Web Sites
Web Marketing Association honors Mall Networks with Standard of Excellence Award for the CyberMonday.com online shopping mall
LEXINGTON, Mass. – September 27, 2007 - Mall Networks, the leading provider of online malls and loyalty shopping solutions, today announced that it has received the 2007 Standard of Excellence WebAward in the Non-Profit Category from the Web Marketing Association. Mall Networks received this award for its work on CyberMonday.com, a merchant-funded online shopping mall it developed for Shop.org, the network for retailers online. Shop.org’s proceeds from the online mall go to its Ray M. Greenly Scholarship Fund, which provides college tuition to students pursuing careers in e-commerce.
The Web Marketing Association was founded in 1997 to help set a high standard for Internet marketing and development of the best Web’s best sites. Now in its 11th year, the WebAwards are the premier annual Web site award competition that names the best Web sites in 96 industries. In 2005, Shop.org coined the phrase, “Cyber Monday,” to describe the ceremonial kickoff to the online holiday shopping season. Shop.org and Mall Networks launched the the merchant-funded Cyber Monday online mall on November 20, 2006. It features nearly 400 leading merchants including Barnes & Noble.com, circuitcity.com, eToys.com, HSN, JCPenney.com and Newegg. The mall offers online shoppers a variety of special offers and promotions, free shipping deals, and coupons in one secure, feature-rich mall.
Response to the Cyber Monday mall was incredibly strong. At its peak on Cyber Monday, the online mall received more than 500,000 page views per hour and in December, 2006, was named one of Alexa’s “Top-10 Movers + Shakers.” As a result of the mall’s success, Shop.org raised more than $100,000 for the Greenly scholarship fund during only a few weeks of the 2006 holiday season.
