Shop.org Partners With Mall Networks To Reward Online Shoppers On Cyber Monday And Throughout The Holiday Shopping Season
Mall Networks Brings Leading Online Merchants Together to Offer Consumers Holiday Shopping Discounts with A Click of a Mouse
LEXINGTON, Mass.– Nov. 20, 2006 – Mall Networks, the company that connects top online merchants to the universe of consumer rewards programs, has been chosen by Shop.org, the association for retailers online, to develop, host and manage an online mall for consumers this holiday season. Kicking off the holiday shopping season on Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving and the ceremonial start to the holiday season, nearly 400 leading merchants including Barnes & Noble.com, circuitcity.com, eToys.com, HSN, JCPenney.com and Newegg will join forces with Shop.org to offer online shoppers a variety of holiday special offers and promotions, free shipping deals and coupons in one easy to find feature-rich online mall – www.CyberMonday.com. All of Shop.org’s proceeds from the online mall go to its Ray M. Greenly Scholarship Fund.
“Consumers have consistently flocked to the Web on the Monday after Thanksgiving to mark a few more items off of their holiday checklists,” said Scott Silverman, Executive Director, Shop.org. “Shop.org realized that offering consumers a single source with hundreds of online merchants would provide a more efficient way to shop, while increasing holiday sales for merchants and helping to raise money for a good cause. Mall Networks provided a turnkey online mall solution with the flexibility and technology that we simply could not do ourselves,” he added.
An online shopping portal allows consumers to shop easily and securely at hundreds of brand name merchants. Consumers can go to the site www.CyberMonday.com to shop online and get discounts and special promotions on every purchase. In addition to special offers like free shipping and one day specials, all Shop.org proceeds from the Cyber Monday Mall go to the Ray M. Greenly Scholarship Fund, which provides tuition assistance to college students pursuing careers in e-commerce.
Through the partnership with Shop.org, Mall Networks will develop, host and manage the online mall through a flexible technology platform that offers rapid deployment, customization options and merchant relationships while managing email integration, back end accounting and reporting tools.
“Since its founding, Shop.org has attracted the leading online retailers and showcased advances in e-commerce,” said Kimathi Marangu, EVP Business Development, Mall Networks. “Last year, their research uncovered the Cyber Monday phenomena to help members plan their eHoliday initiatives. This year, the Cyber Monday mall we’ve built will bring all the benefits of this research and planning to the consumer in one easy-to-use website. Holiday shoppers this year will save a lot of time, and a lot of money, at www.CyberMonday.com.”
About Cyber Monday
Cyber Monday is the ceremonial kickoff to the online holiday shopping season. It occurs annually on the Monday after Thanksgiving, when many consumers head back to work after the long weekend and shop for holiday gifts online. The phrase was coined based on a consumer trend that retailers identified several years ago. Last year, Cyber Monday was the second biggest day of the year for online retail sales, according to the Shop.org/Shopzilla eHoliday Mood Study.
